AM Batteries, which is creating dry battery electrode know-how, has entered a joint growth settlement with Japanese electronics producer TDK to develop energy-efficient battery manufacturing.
The partnership goals to reinforce sustainability, enhance battery manufacturing scalability and speed up the event of solid-state batteries. TDK’s funding arm TDK Ventures is an investor in AM Batteries.
AM’s dry coating know-how eliminates the necessity for solvents and electrode drying, decreasing power consumption by 75% and capital expenditures by 30% within the battery electrode manufacturing course of. By integrating the know-how with TDK’s superior supplies and manufacturing, the businesses goal to extend battery effectivity and efficiency.
“Partnering with AM Batteries marks a key step in making battery manufacturing extra environment friendly and environmentally pleasant,” mentioned Shigeki Sato, Chief Know-how Officer at TDK. “Dry coating know-how provides a compelling path to decreasing waste and power use whereas sustaining excessive efficiency and enabling next-generation battery chemistries.”
