JeMyn, an affiliate of Swiss agency Widmer Rail Companies, has ordered two Vectron locomotives with battery energy modules from Siemens Mobility—the primary order for this new model of the Vectron.
The battery module permits the Vectron to function for brief distances with out an overhead energy line, enabling the loco to cowl the final mile of service and perform shunting runs on non-electrified sections of rail line. This eliminates the necessity for diesel-powered shunting locomotives.
