MP Supplies produces specialty supplies which might be important inputs for the EV and renewable power industries (see our function article from March 2024). The corporate is increasing its manufacturing operations downstream to supply a full provide chain resolution from uncooked supplies to magnetic merchandise.
Now MP Supplies says it has reached a pivotal milestone in restoring the US uncommon earth magnet provide chain. The corporate’s flagship Independence facility in Fort Price, Texas has begun business manufacturing of neodymium-praseodymium (NdPr) metallic and trial manufacturing of automotive-grade, sintered neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets.
NdFeB magnets are important parts in autos, drones, robotics, electronics, and aerospace and protection methods. For many years, the US has relied nearly completely on overseas sources for these vital supplies.

The Independence facility is poised to supply roughly 1,000 metric tons of completed NdFeB magnets per 12 months, and manufacturing will ramp up starting in late 2025. The power will provide magnets to GM and different producers, sourcing its uncooked supplies from Mountain Move, MP Supplies’ mine and processing facility in California.
In 2024, the Mountain Move mine delivered greater than 45,000 metric tons of uncommon earth oxides (REO) contained in focus, in addition to roughly 1,300 metric tons of NdPr oxide, along with cerium, lanthanum, and different separated and refined merchandise.
“This milestone marks a serious step ahead in restoring a completely built-in uncommon earth magnet provide chain in america,” stated James Litinsky, founder, Chairman and CEO of MP Supplies. “With record-setting upstream and midstream manufacturing at Mountain Move, and each metallic and magnet manufacturing underway at Independence, now we have reached a major turning level for MP and US competitiveness in a significant sector.”
