Irish Distillers-owned Redbreast has launched the Moscatel Wine Cask Version because the fifth expression in its Iberian Collection.


The brand new restricted version introduces an extra layer to the model’s signature ex-Bourbon and oloroso Sherry cask-matured single pot nonetheless whiskey. The expression was completed in Moscatel casks for 16 months and is bottled at 46% ABV.
Created by grasp blender David McCabe, the restricted version utilises Moscatel wine casks from the Bodegas Quitapenas in Málaga, southern Spain.
Fifth-generation custodians Marta Suárez Prieto and Víctor Suárez Onrubial handle the vineyard. Beneath their cautious supervision, the European oak hogsheads had been seasoned with Moscatel wine for 2 years earlier than being despatched to Midleton Distillery.

The whiskey begins with notes of candy tangerine and twisted orange peel, complemented by delicate natural hints of chamomile tea, nutmeg, and cedarwood. The wine-seasoned oak imparts flavours of vanilla, complemented by floral honey and sugar-glazed fruits.

“Together with my cousin Víctor, now we have taken nice care to season the casks completely, to make sure the brand new expression is infused with great flavour notes of candy honey, dates and caramelised fruits alongside light natural, floral and citrus tones.”

The fifth version within the Iberian Collection follows Redbreast PX Version in 2021, the Lustau Version in 2022, the Tawny Port Cask Version in 2023, and the Cuatro Barilles Version in 2024.
