The EBRD has permitted a $475mn mortgage for Jordan’s $6bn deliberate Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Challenge (AAWDCP). The Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant is meant to ship 300 mcm/y of desalinated water from Aqaba to Jordan’s inhabitants facilities, assembly round 40% of home demand by 2030.
The mortgage was permitted on 23 Apil. EBRD Vice President Matteo Patrone described the challenge, often known as the Nationwide Water Service challenge, as “critically vital” to Jordan’s long-term water resilience, and described the finalization of technical and authorized agreements with challenge developer, France’s Meridiam, as a key step towards implementation of the Public Non-public Partnership (PPP) challenge.
