Japan’s maritime transport participant, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (Ok Line), has confirmed a naming ceremony for 2 liquefied pure fuel (LNG) carriers at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ shipbuilding facility.

Based on Ok Line, a three way partnership firm held a naming ceremony for 2 174,000-cubic meter (cbm) LNG vessels for QatarEnergy on December 3, 2025. The primary ship was named Sharq by the spouse of Yukikazu Myochin, Director and Chairperson of the Japanese agency’s board.
The second vessel was named Shra’Ouh by the spouse of Takaya Soga, President and Chief Govt Officer of Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha. The title of the primary ship is derived from the title of an jap metropolis of Qatar, and the second is derived from the title of an island within the Persian Gulf state.
These vessels are the seventh and eighth of a sequence of 12 LNG vessels that the three way partnership corporations have been constructing for QatarEnergy. Sharq is the primary of three vessels on this sequence to be managed by Ok Line.
