BW LNG, a part of BW Group, has confirmed the beginning of labor for the second of two new liquefied pure gasoline (LNG) vessels with Norway’s state-owned vitality large Equinor.

Weeks after a naming ceremony was held for 2 LNG ships, BW Nivalis and BW Borealis, at the beginning of January 2026 at Hanwha Ocean’s Okpo Shipyard in South Korea, BW LNG introduced the supply of the second vessel from the Asian shipyard. The ship begun its long-term constitution with Equinor on March 4, 2026.
The agency explains that the vessel was named after the Latin phrase for ‘northern.’ BW Borealis is described to function a state-of-the-art design, enabling among the trade’s lowest gasoline consumption and emissions.
The ship has a carrying capability of 174,000 cubic meters (cbm) and is supplied with ME-GI propulsion, a full reliquefaction system, shaft mills, and ALS.
The supply of BW Borealis is claimed to mark BW LNG’s completion of the two-vessel program chartered to Equinor. The ship’s sister vessel, BW Nivalis, was delivered on February 4, 2026.
The corporate underlined: “This milestone underscores the sturdy collaboration between BW LNG and Hanwha Ocean, and heralds the beginning of a long-term partnership with Equinor.
